Little Lord Fauntleroy (Paperback)

Little Lord Fauntleroy is a novel by the English- American writer Frances Hodgson Burnett, her rst children's novel. Polly Hovarth writes that Little Lord Fauntleroy "was the Harry Potter of his time and Frances Hodgson Burnett was as celebrated for creating him as J.K. Rowling is for Potter." The story runs as follows: young Ceddie (Freddie Bartholomew) lives with his American mother. His long-dead father was a British earl disowned by his grandfather, the Earl of Dorincourt (C. Aubrey Smith), who disapproved of all Americans. With his sons dead, the earl decides to recognize Ceddie as his heir. The stern and ill-tempered old man is soon won over by Ceddie's kindness and honesty. As the family begins to come together, trouble arrives when another woman insists her son is the earl's true heir.During the serialisation in St. Nicholas magazine, readers looked forward to new instalments. The fashions in the book became popular with velvet Lord Fauntleroy suits being sold, as well as other Fauntleroy merchandise such as velvet collars, playing cards, and chocolates. This classic title has been published by RADLEY BOOKS.
